Collaboration between Laxmi Bank and Sewa

Empowering Low-Income Families with Home Loans

Sewa and Laxmi Bank have formalized a significant partnership aimed at extending home loans to underserved low-income households. This cooperative agreement enables the bank to disburse loans directly to eligible borrowers who have received approval from the housing management committee and have established their own accounts with the bank.

Sewa Home Loans cater to low-income families who own land and aspire to either enhance their existing residences or embark on the construction of new homes. Sewa actively engages with these families, assisting them in assessing their housing needs and devising tailored plans and designs. The ultimate goal is to ensure that the families are content with the final design and are willing to cover the associated costs. These families can now access home loans with an increased maximum limit of NPR 700,000, up from the previous cap of NPR 400,000, to support the realization of their housing needs.

Crucially, the implementation of these housing projects, whether for new construction or in-situ upgrades, is orchestrated by the communities themselves. They employ cost-effective and earthquake-resistant construction techniques, guided by technical expertise provided by Sewa. Currently, this transformative initiative is underway in Biratnagar (Morang) Rabi Opi (Kavre)and Kohalpur (Banke), enhancing the living conditions of families and strengthening communities.
